Masopust

Last year a former student of mine was visiting from Japan and we spent Masopust walking from Prague castle until Malostranska square.  It was quite fun and we ran into one of my friends there.  However, it was VERY crowded.  So, this year we decided to go to Karlin for Masopust.  It was much more spread out and much better for Amaya.  We saw a camel and llama among other animals in the smallest area.  It was quite odd to see.  We saw lots of people with their costumes after we had already sat down to eat.  The meat dishes were really good and they gave good portions. Again I ran into a friend this year at Masopust, but this time it was a friend who's baby is about a week younger than Amaya.  It was a nice way to spend a cloudy Saturday.

One Year Anniversary

One year ago I met these beautiful mommas while we were all still very pregnant with our little ones. We met every week for lunch until we gave birth thanks to one momma suggesting it.  It has been so great to have them as a support system while I was pregnant and now while raising Amaya.  It's been nice to share notes with each other on what works and how everything is going.  Meeting these ladies and two others (who live a bit far away) a year ago was the beginning of me meeting so many other mothers.  I have no idea how many mothers I have met now because of Amaya.  I have been trying to keep her busy and meeting other babies.  I want to make sure that she will have plenty of friends because she will not have any siblings.  I want to thank these mommas and all the other mommas I have met so far.  Its been really great meeting you all and I'm looking forward to many more memories ahead of us! I didn't post any photos publicly while I was pregnant, but it has been so fun looking back at all the lunches we went to while pregnant and soon after!  I definitely retained a lot of water and I am happy that I lost all of it!

Global Flavors with Dario: Philippine Classics (Edition 1)

We had an exciting Filipino cooking class with a chef with a ton of experience. If you're a foodie in Prague, then you definitely know the restaurant Mlynec, which is part of the Zátiší group and has recently been Michelin Guide Czech Republic 2025 Recommended! One of the chefs humbly chose to have a class with our group!  We had the opportunity to learn some amazing things with the highest qualified chef we've had for a class. You know he's gotta love cooking and is truly passionate about it if he wants to spend his free time cooking!!  On the menu we had chicken lumpia (Filipino Spring Roll) as the appetizer, pork kare kare as the main and ube flavored sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves as dessert.  Everything was amazing!!!  The flavors worked so well together and it was great to see how a top level chef works.  I'm hoping that we will be able to have another class with Dario in the near future!  Thanks to those who participated!  I hope you had a wonderful time!
