Finally in Gambia!

We finally arrived in Gambia 12 hours later than expected.  It was so good to see that we actually got to our destination.  The 12-hour delay didn't make too much of a difference in our plans, so in the end it was fine. We made our way to Farato village.  We had lunch and then decided to head off to the craft market.  We were the ONLY tourists there so of course every vendor wanted us to go into their shops.  I decided on a bracelet and a keychain.  Afterwards we decided to go to a nature reserve.  The entrance was just 35 dalasi (a bit more than 50cents).  Since it was still the rainy season, there were a lot of parts that were quite muddy in the nature reserve.  Then we finally got to a point where the water was too deep so we couldn't go any further.  From the map we saw that it was quite big, and it was a shame we couldn't discover the entire park.  Our time in Farato was short, but nice and we got to experience African life.

Rerouted through Istanbul

We flew from Prague to Brussels and were about to board the plane to go from Brussels to Dakar when we were informed that the plane wasn't going to fly because of technical difficulties.  We were then rerouted through Istanbul, basically flying backwards from where we started.  Everyone was quite upset, but at least we were still on our way.  I was able to meet the Minister of Tourism for Gambia and the Vice President of the Football Federation for Gambia.  There were really nice, and the minister was actually waiting in line like everyone else.  Someone had to grab him from the line and take him to the front.  Once we arrived in Istanbul, we had 5 hours to burn.  Luckily the airport in Istanbul is HUGE so the time went by fast. It was so interesting to see all the different things that the airport had to offer.  We even came across a free museum within the airport.

Brunch in Regensburg

The weather was beautiful on Sunday.  We walked from one side of town to the other to get to LeoÅ¡'s friend's house for brunch.  It was nice to do a bit of sightseeing. The weather was perfect compared to the day before.  LeoÅ¡'s friend and her family prepared a wonderful brunch for us.  Everything was delicious.  After we finished we walked back to where we were staying and then drove back to Praha.  It was a nice weekend to get away and for LeoÅ¡ to see his friends again. Plus I got to go to my first dult.
