Powder Tower and Restaurant Week

In the morning I met up with a friend to take advantage of the discount for the Powder Tower.  Normally the entrance is 190czk, but because of an anniversary Litacka (Prague transport card) holders were able to get a ticket for just 55czk.  I thought it would be much better to go on a week day than on a weekend and I was certainly right.  There weren't any lines and barely any people were in the tower.  The views from the top were really nice.  We were able to see Prague from a new angle. Afterwards, we took advantage of lunch specials that restaurants have during the week.  In the evening, Leos and I went to a reservation I made at a restaurant that was participating for Restaurant Week.  We got a lot of different foods and the variety was nice.  However, the flavor profiles for some of the dishes threw me off a bit.  It was nice to go to, but I do not think we will return to that restaurant.

St. Patty's Day

Laura and I needed to catch up and the weather was really nice, so we met at Old Town Square.  We took a touristy photo in front of the clock and walked to the main area.  There happened to be a bunch of Irish people because of St. Patrick's Day.  Unfortunately, we arrived at the end of the celebration.  We took a few photos and headed to Kampa.  Laura was able to get green beer and I saw some giant Irish hound dogs dressed up for St. Patty's Day.  It was a nice day for a walk.

Vegan Dinner

After the Gala Leos attended in Myrtle Beach, North Carolina, Leos connected with some other traders.  He has a bi-weekly chat he joins online when he is able to.  There is a German who is part of that chat.  He told Leos that he would be in Prague, so we made sure to meet up with him and his girlfriend.  Vegan food was requested, so we went to a Vegan restaurant in the center.  We had good chats and food.  It was a nice evening.

A Student's Visit

A former student of mine (just a year younger than me) from my time teaching in Japan was finally visiting Prague.  She messaged me several times over the years saying that she would visit Prague, but this weekend she finally made it.  We started Saturday off by going to the farmer's market so I could get my favorite pesto bread.  Then we went to the castle.  By chance, on Saturday, Prague was celebrating Masopust and there were so many people dressed up for the occasion.  Just before leaving the apartment, I grabbed 2 small items we could wear just in case. I grabbed my light up glasses (which were not at all obvious during the day) and a knife going through one's head.  My student got to feel like she was a local because she had something on as well.  I decided that instead of actually going to the castle, it would be better to go with the crowd of people.  I happened to run into a friend and we joined her family.   It was such a fun experience being with so many dressed up people.  Eventually we left the crowds of people and did some touristy stuff. I showed her so many places on Saturday, probably too many!  Then on Sunday, we met for lunch at Cafe Lourve (where Kafka and Einstein used to hang out).  After lunch I took her to the exhibition at Kuthsthalle for a Japanese artist.  The funny thing is that she had to been to the exhibition the artist had at the Mori Museum in Japan in 2019.   It was quite an eventful weekend.
