Ait Ourir (Morocco)

I had a delicious breakfast and then lunch. In Morocco they dip their bread in argan oil.  I had never had it before and I immediately enjoyed the taste.  I knew that this was something I needed to buy. I had heard of argan oil for hair products or beauty products, but not for food consumption. It was delicious!!! I needed to rest in the morning and early afternoon because of all the walking I did the previous day. I went to Ait Ourir with my friend and got to stay at his grandma's house.  I was welcomed with food and tea.  The next day we walked around the remains of a palace and then hiked up a tall hill to overlook the views of the surrounding area.  There were others who had hiked the steep hill as well, so I took their photos.  It was so surprising to see snow in the distance.  I had no idea that there was snow in Morocco. I only imagined the Sahara desert and no snow at all, I was wrong!

CS Meeting (Marrakech, Morocco)

Every time I go to a new city, I always check if there is a couchsurfing meeting.  In Marrakech there is a weekly meeting every Friday.  When I arrived I was surprised to the amount of locals that were there.  From all the CS meetings I have been to around the world, Marrakech definitely had the most locals, which was great because I could get advice from several different people.  It was a nice and chill atmosphere. It was a bit strange though with the women at the meeting because from the women that were there only ONE agreed to be part of my blog. After the meeting I went to the night market and tried a really strong herbal health drink.  It was hot and quite hard to drink.  When I put it to my lips my eyes started to water.  Once I was able to drink it, it was quite nice.  It was a nice way to end a FULL day in Marrakech which actually felt like a week!!

1st Day in Marrakech, Morocco

I decided to get a last minute ticket to Marrakech, Morocco because I was a bit tired of the cold weather in the Czech Republic.  I was able to get a decent price on a direct flight from Prague to Marrekech (4 hours).  On the first day I went to a nice view point of the city.  On my first full day in Morocco, I walked ALL over the city with my new friends.  We walked 23.5 km!!!  First we walked to the market area, then the Bahia Palace, the Menara, the National theater, the CS meeting and then the night market.  It was a really great way to see the city and in the end actually the ONLY day I walked around Marrakech!
