Local Legends and Ghost Stories (Prague, CZ)

I was looking for things to do on Wednesday because my students were on spring vacation. I came across a free night walking tour that included local legends and ghost stories given by a local woman.  It looked pretty interesting so I decided to join.  Before going on the tour I went for a walk on my favorite island in Prague and came across several coypu.  They were so cute even though their teeth and tail are quite intimidating.  The tour began at Charles Bridge.  We were first told about the legends of the water men.  The story was quite good.  Then we walked on the bridge and were told some more legends and stories.  Apparently King Charles IV laid the first stone for the Charles Bridge in 1357 on the 9th July at 5:31 am. This precise time was chosen because the pattern forms a numerical bridge 135797531, which Charles believed would reinforce the bridge’s strength.  I knew about the year, but I didn't know about the exact date and time, so that was great information. Then we walked towards the clock and Jewish area.  It was such a nice night and I got to learn some local legends. As an added bonus I got to discover a neat place for tea/coffee in the center.  It was great and I recommend the tour to everyone! Thanks Petra for a nice walk!

10,000th person!!!! Milky Chance and Trash Hero event and Milky Chance concert (Prague, CZ)

I'm still on cloud nine from my amazing day yesterday. I finally got the 10,000th person for my blog. I was able to get Clemens Rehbein from Milky Chance to wear my glasses. For some time I have been close to the 10,000th person wearing my glasses. I was thinking long and hard about who I could get to wear my glasses. I had some ideas playing around in my head of who I might be able to get. They were a bit far fetched. I didn't want to wait that long because I continuously post pictures of events I go to. Then I came across an event that Trash Hero Praha was hosting with Milky Chance (Trash Hero Praha s Milky Chance uklízí Letnou). At first I thought they were just promoting it, but were not actually going to come. The night before I read the description again and it clearly stated that they were going to help out. I couldn't believe my luck. I did a bit of research and saw that the first time they posted their hit Stolen Dance was September 7th 2012 and I had started my blog later the same month!!!!! (September 28th 2012) So, with this in mind, they were the perfect ones to be 10,000 for me. Much more of a personal meaning and I have listened to that song so many times (To be honest it was the only song I knew from them before that day). I was only 14 people away from 10,000 and I knew it would be easy to get 13 people at the clean up before hitting that sweet 10,000 I have been thinking about for a while. When the time came for the event to start we waited a bit and the band wasn't there. We decided to start without them and then suddenly I saw them. I asked all the volunteers around me if I could quickly take their picture. Everyone was super nice and quickly agreed. I hope I remembered everyone's country properly! If I made a mistake, please let me know so I can fix it. Then I saw my chance to talk to the lead singer, Clemens. I told him about my blog and I told him that I needed 5 more people before I wanted to take his picture. He said he would have to think about it. I continued with the clean up and got some more pictures. Then one of the fans go a nasty cut on her leg from a broken piece of glass that had broke through the bag. I helped cleaning the cut and bandaging it up (I hope everything is ok with your leg!). Then Clemens walked by just as I was about to take the last two photos. Then I told him that the guy I was taking the picture was 9,999, and he responded with, "OK, I guess its my turn then". I was so happy. I just took his photo on the spot when I should've had the nice Praha background view, opps!! And then I was so distracted with getting his picture that I forgot to get the rest of the band to wear my glasses, sorry!!!! It was a successful clean up. We picked up 161kg of trash in less than 2 hours. At the end we got a live version of Stolen Dance (click to watch the video of them singing), but at one point Clemens forgot the lyrics and I had to help, he even acknowledges it, haha! All the Milky Chance members were super nice. I was asked if I was going to the concert that night, but I told them I couldn't because it was sold out. A couple hours I was informed that the band gave us Trash Heroes some free tickets. Later that night I was on the guest list and got to enjoy such an incredible concert(click the link to see my close up footage). I'm so glad that I got to go to the concert because it introduced me to all their other amazing songs.  It was so cool for me because I got the free ticket from them! The energy the guys had on stage was phenomenal!! It surprised me considering how chill the guys were earlier in the day. I also got some great video footage from the concert that I will post on YouTube later. And it was a perfect way for me to celebrate my 10,000 accomplishment!!!  Having a musician be number 10,000 is actually perfect because I can easily listen to their music whenever I want and be in a happy mood.  Music is very powerful and can bring us back to certain moments.  Things happen for a reason and it's been a long time coming for me to reach this milestone.  I have met so many amazing people on this journey. I can't wait to see what else my path has in store for me. I have met John Travolta, the guys from the YouTube channel Honest Guide, professional skateboarders, pro surfers, a pro sumo wrestler, firefighters, a politician, tv host, comedians, actors, athletes, research scientists, captains, pilots, tv personalities, DJs, hard working moms and dads, bedouins, people and animals from all walks of life (I even have a kangaroo wearing my glasses). I have around 125 nationalities represented on my blog and the glasses have been on all the continents. When I was in Antarctica I made a snowman so I could have a native wear the glasses! The Romanian band, Les Elephants Bizzares, even made a song for my blog (Trippin' - first song of the video not the second song!!!) It has been such an amazing adventure and a great way to meet people. I want to thank everyone so far who has been part of my project. Who will be the next exciting person I get???!!!
