Sendai, Japan

I had a couple of days off in the middle of the week, so I decided that I should check out a city that I have never been to before. I decided to go to Sendai. It was a 7 hour bus ride from Shinjuku bus terminal until Sendai station. The bus was very comfortable, but didn't have wifi. I was a bit shocked by that.
However, I had a wonderful time in Sendai. I checked out Yamadera and Matsushima while I was there. I even went inside the 6th tallest statue in the world, Sendai Daikannon. It stands at 100 meters. It was very impressive! Until next time Sendai!

Monthly Couchsurfing Meeting (Tokyo, Japan)

Every time I am in Japan, I try to go to the Monthly Couchsurfing Meeting. Last month I wasn't able to go because I was busy, but this month I had some time. I have a different position at work, so now I am finishing work much later than before, so I went to the meeting straight after work. There were lots of nice people and I actually lost track of time. Most of the people at the meeting were travelers. I hope they enjoy their time in Japan. It was nice to meet everyone!

Halloween (Tokyo, Japan)

The last couple of years I have celebrated Halloween in Japan. However, I normally celebrate it on the weekend. This year I was too sick on the Saturday, so I decided that I needed to go on Halloween day. Shibuya was sooooo crazy. In fact, it was so crazy and I wasn't feeling the best, so I actually didn't get anyone to wear my glasses, but I took some pictures of the craziness. I thought that it might be a time where I could lose my glasses if I took them out, so I chose not to get anyone's photo.

Daidengaku Ikebukuro Emaki　(Tokyo, Japan)

Earlier in the week, my friend had posted about an event she was going to take part in. I messaged her and asked if I could join. The next day I received confirmation that I could join. The event took place in Ikebukuro and was supposed to happen in the park. They had a really nice set up and they rehearsed for 2 hours outside. Then we went inside to get dressed. At the time we were supposed to go outside, it started to rain. The rain wouldn't go away, so the performance had to be moved indoors. It was such a shame because last year they had to do it indoors as well because of a typhoon and they had practiced 3 months for the performance. Since the festival had to be done indoors, they weren't able to have such a big audience. (Plus the rain had stopped by the time the performance was finished and we changed out of the traditional clothes). The MC of the show was a Japanese comedian, Kota Ishii part of the comedian group Yarusenasu. He was super nice and he was more than willing to wear my glasses. He even helped me get the main actor, Manzo Nomura, to wear my glasses as well. It was so great to watch the traditional dance and so interesting to see that they also incorporated cos play people. Everyone was so nice and friendly and I am so happy that I was able to be part of the festival. (Plus I got an event shirt for participating. That was pretty cool!)
