Dia de los Muertos

In the morning, Leos and I went to his nephew's first ever MMA match.  He is the world champion for muay thai, so his coach wanted to have him try a new discipline. It was the first time I watched MMA live.  For me it was a bit difficult watching the really young kids fight.  One of the kids in the first matches dislocated his shoulder.  That was pretty tough to see.  Finally it was Leos's nephew's, Libor, turn to fight.  In the first round he got thrown to the ground which caught him off guard and he didn't know what to do.  In the second round, he was able to stay up and when he did, his opponent didn't have a chance.  His punches and kicks were so strong and precise.  He ended up winning his match.  It was a good fight. First time competing in MMA and winning is pretty darn good.  We didn't stay much longer after his fight.  I went to the farmer's market to get my weekly pesto bread and then I headed to the Dia de los Muertos event.  It was nice to see all the decorations and watch all the performances.  It was quite cold though, so I didn't stay too long.  I tried to compete in the raffle for a trip to Mexico, but unfortunately I didn't win.  It's ok because the trip was for Puerto Vallarta and I have been there 2 times already.  It was quite an eventful Saturday!

Halloween

Every year there are more and more Halloween decorations in Prague.  I walked around with a friend and we couldn't believe the decorations that were in the shopping mall Maj.  In the evening I went to the Dia de los Muertos event in Holesovice.  There were a lot of food stands, but the lines were so long and the prices were quite high considering the portions.  I looked on Google maps for places near by and found a place that hit the spot. The prices were decent and the food was great.  I couldn't eat everything, so I took it home and it the next day.

Panska Skala, CZ and Oybin, DE

Leos and I didn't have plans for the public holiday.  However, a week before, my friend told me about a place she was looking into visiting.  It looked really nice, so Leos and I decided to use her idea.  It took about 2.5 hours to drive to Panska Skala from Prague.  When we arrived it was so cold!! I was shocked.  But then the clouds opened up and the sun came out to give us some blue skies for a bit.  It was really a beautiful natural sight. The rocks were impressive and the whole atmosphere was nice.  The landmark is 30 million years old!!!!  What's crazy is that these rocks exist in other parts of the world as well.  For example there are the same types of rocks in Iceland and in Ireland to name a few.  We wanted to walk around the area, but there weren't that many nice paths around.  When we walked back to the parking lot we saw a sign that said Oybin with some nice rocks on it.  I checked Google maps and it was just a 20 minute car ride.  We had to drive into Germany, but that wasn't a big deal at all.  Oybin was a very picturesque town.  The picture we saw at the parking lot didn't do the town justice.  It was so much nicer than we were expecting.  We enjoyed walking around and taking in the views.  The church had a very interesting interior, but I wasn't able to take photos inside.  We walked up to the castle, but decided not to go in.  Since it wasn't a public holiday in Germany, the stores were open.  We went to a supermarket to do a bit of shopping.  Then we called it a day and headed back.  While on the road, we passed through Poland for a few minutes. Only in Europe is it easy to drive through multiple countries in a matter of minutes.  It was such a beautiful day!
