Al Dar Island

I really wanted to snorkel for pearls, but none of the companies who do it got back to us.  I still wanted to snorkel, so we decided to go to Al Dar islands.  We needed to get to the ticket office to get on the boat.  The first boat was leaving at noon.  We made it just 5 minutes before 12.  We paid the 6bhd/person and handed them our passports.  When we got on the boat, they gave everyone their passports back.  On the way to the island we saw 1 dolphin.  It was pretty cool that we saw it because one activity they charge extra for is sightseeing for dolphins.  On our boat, there were just 9 passengers.  When we arrived to the island, it was just us who were on the boat and staff.  It was so empty and nice. We found our beach chairs next to the swing in the water and we were set.  I snorkeled and saw more things than I expected I would find.  I saw a clam and I wasn't 100% sure if it was a pearl shell.  I opened it up and didn't find a pearl, but the shell was very beautiful.  I later found out that I was actually right and it was the correct shell that if you are lucky, you can find pearls in.  They were probably going to be the same if we were able to find a company that went snorkeling for pearls.  We had it much better this way because we got to relax on the beach and I also found the shells. I went snorkeling on the other side and I saw a starfish and a really big crab with blue claws.  At one point the crab was chasing me and it was a bit scary. Overall it was a great day at the beach.  When we got back to the mainland, we took a taxi to a park and then walked back to the main part of the city.  We saw a beautiful mosque and decided to check out a restaurant that we saw was busy a night before.  The place didn't have menus or pictures and I had to randomly choose what the waiter told me was the menu.  I did a good job ordering because the food was great! After dinner, I got some karak tea.  So many locals were getting it on the street, so I wanted it as well.  It was quite sweet, but had lots of spices and was delicious.  Then we made our way walking a long distance to the hotel, but we walked in the bay and enjoyed the nice views.  It was such a great day!
