Crocodile Pool (Bakau, The Gambia)

In the morning we decided to have a walk around Bakau.  We met a nice fishermen who showed us the fishermen shelter that was built at the corner where the ocean meets the river.  He also showed us where Muslims pray in that area.  Then we made our way to the fish market.  After the market we walked to a beach where there was actually a life guard watching everyone swim. Next we made our way to the Crocodile Pool.  Before going to the crocodile area we went through a museum showing The Gambia's history.  It was really interesting to all the artifacts and read about the history.  Then we got to the crocodile area.  It was really cool to see that there was 1 crocodile chilling there right in front of an important sign. The sign says that one should not touch a crocodile without the advice of a pool guide.  We got to touch the crocodile and it was surreal.  The skin was quite rough and cold.  We happened to be in the area while the pool guides had lunch delivered and offered us lunch.  They wouldn't take no for an answer, so we got to try some of their lunch. It was quite nice and it was so hospitable for them to let us have some.  We have found that in The Gambia, people will always offer food.  When we exited the crocodile pool there were some moneys that were being fed bananas by another tourist.  It was fun to watch the monkeys eat the bananas.  Then we went to the beach to finish off the day.  It was a great day.
