Moshi Moshi Festival

I was lucky enough to find some advertisements online for free tickets to the Moshi Moshi Festival.  I wasn't 100% sure what kind of event it was going to be, but it looked like fun. I got tickets for both Saturday and Sunday, but just managed to go on Sunday.  It was a great day to go to the event because it was raining most of the day.  There were lots of booths with all different kinds of Japanese things.  I got to listen to J-Pop and some traditional music combined with a dj mixing in the background.  It was such an awesome day!

10 yen sushi and 8bit cafe

I took some photos around Ueno during a lunch break last week.  The autumn colors were really nice.  I tried going to the 10 yen sushi place last week, but the place is closed every sunday.  So, I made sure I went on Saturday night.  They really did have sushi for 10 yen a piece.  The thing is that if you want the discount, you have to buy a drink.  It didn't matter because the prices for the drinks were standard anyways.  The sushi chef worked there by himself and the drinks came from the place next door.  The restaurant was super narrow.  I would definitely go there again.  It's right around the corner of Yoyogi Station.  After dinner my friend and I walked to 8bit Cafe.  We met up with another friend there and we played a lot of Super Nintendo.  It's quite funny because the day before I went to a bar in Roppongi with a co-worker and also played Super Nintendo.  I haven't played Super Nintendo for over 15 years and then suddenly I played it 2 nights in a row.  It was a lot of fun!

Namjatown and Kawaii Monster Cafe

This weekend I wanted to do really kawaii Japanese things.  On Saturday, I went to Namjatown in Sunshine City with a couchsurfer.  I went there to try weird flavors of ice cream.  Unfortunately a lot of the strange flavors were sold out.  The flavors I ended up having was tulip(flower), avocado, sweet potato, marscapone(cheese), vanilla bourbon, and kombu(seaweed).  It was a fun day.  Then on Sunday I went with a group of couchsurfers to the Kawaii Monster Cafe in Harajuku.  I had done some research earlier in the week and I saw that there was a coupon at the tourist information for free table charge (normally 500 yen/person) so before meeting everyone I got the coupon.  We had to wait a while because we were a big group but once we were in, it seemed like it was a completely different world.  The colors were so bright and beautiful.  The performers were great sports and put on my glasses.  However, one of the girls hair was too big so she couldn't put them on.  The other performer had such wonderful make-up that he didn't want to mess it up, so he put them on his head.  The food on the menu was quite unique to the cafe.  It was an awesome afternoon!
