We visited our friend in Brufut to have lunch with his family. It was great to see how he lived in the village. Brufut area where the tourists see is completely different to how the locals live. I got to help a bit with making lunch. I had to smash some things in a huge mortal and pestle type thing. The cooking stove was heated up by burning pieces of wood. I got to try a delicious fruit that grew in the yard. It was a fruit that I have never eaten before and the seed was quite interesting. While waiting for lunch to be ready I went with my friend's cousin to walk in the village. It was quite hot, so she bought us some ice cream. It was tangy and really nice. Then we headed back to the house. The cousin is in a modeling competition at the moment. I really hope she wins and can represent The Gambia in a positive way. She told me that she wanted to play with my hair. Little did I know, she would actually braid my whole head. Halfway through, lunch was ready so we had a lunch break. Lunch was great. After lunch was over, she finished my hair. It turned out pretty great. Then Leos and I had to say bye to the family and make our way to Bakau. Lamin (our friend) went with us to show us the way to get to the hotel. It was really nice of him to do that for us. We got to see the ONLY traffic light in all of Gambia!
