It was time we said bye to Sanyang. We didn't really want to because we had such a great time, but it was time to see other parts of the country. We made our way to Brufut. The Monkey Park was something we really wanted to check out. The people who worked at the park were only interested in making money, they were not nice at all. They wanted to rip us off by charging too much for a bag of peanuts. They said without the peanuts we wouldn't be able to get good pictures of the monkeys. We didn't believe them. The peanuts were not needed, we were able to get wonderful pictures. Since I was able to have such an amazing experience with a house trained monkey the day before, I didn't want to get TOO close to the wild monkeys because they would be unpredictable. There were lots of monkeys in the park. The unfortunate thing is that they area wasn't properly cleaned up. There was so much land in the park, but we weren't able to truly walk around because the vegetation was too crazy. The paths were not easy to walk around. After the Monkey Park, we went to the beach. Of course there were cows on the beach again! Then we got hungry and went to a really local place for lunch. There were sooooo many people waiting in line and we didn't know the correct procedure, so we had our friend order food. The food was great! Then we hung out with our friend's friend and got to try some green tea, Gambian style. It was quite nice. We came across a guy that tried to go to Europe the back way and listening to his story was really interesting. It took him a month to get to Tunisia. He was suppose to be on a boat for a day to get to Italy, but there was a problem with the boat and they were at sea for 4 days. One child died on the boat, and they had to go back to Tunisia. For trying to go to Europe illegally they all had to go to prison in Tunisia for a year and a half. He went for 6 months and then went back to The Gambia. It was crazy listening to the story and just to hear how desperately he wants to go to Europe. Another guy was 100% Gambian by blood, but was born in NYC. Apparently he was really stubborn, so his mother sent him to Gambia for a year to see what life is like for his relatives. In the beginning he was still stubborn, but overtime he learned to relax and chill out. He is really looking forward to going back to NYC in December. After the hangout we went back to the beach. We enjoyed fresh fruit juice and the sunset. It was a full, but good day.
