My friend messaged me in the middle of August asking me if I could attend her birthday jewelry making workshop. I hadn't left Amaya with Leos for more than two hours before, so at least I had a few weeks to prepare for the afternoon. I made sure to pump enough breast milk so Leos could feed her while I was gone. The day had finally arrived and it was so nice to be able to leave Amaya with Leos while I did something with my friends. We each had a station set up with a mat, template and special needles. Learning how to make the flower shape with beads was quite tricky. I wasn't able to use the special needles properly. I kept getting my string in knots while using the needles, so I ended up just threading the beads and string with my fingers. Once I got the hang of it with the flowers, it wasn't that bad. I finished the complicated bracelet and wanted to make rings, which are supposedly much easier. I had a hard time keeping the beads on the string. I dropped finished rings about five times. It was getting so frustrating. It was probably because I was using such a small amount of string for the rings. Going through the beads a second time to secure the beads was my nemesis. My friend had to help me with it with one ring. The two other rings I made, I decided to just tie it and not do the double thread. Overall it was a really fun activity and I am happy I got to learn a new skill. Thanks for the invite Farhana and I hope you had a wonderful birthday!
