Akimatsuri

This was the 4th year that we attended Akimatsuri and the second time my mom was able to join us.  Unfortunately, the weather was quite bad.  It was cloudy, cold and at the end rainy. We got there early like we usually do and there was already a long line for the takoyaki.  Luckily, there was only one group waiting at the ramen tent, so we waited behind them.  My friend messaged me that she was on her way, so I made sure to also get her some ramen.   I thought ordering 5 bowls of ramen was a lot.  It wasn't because it was for 5 people.  The person behind me ordered 9 bowls and I think it was just 3 in the group!!!  Then we got yakisoba and mochi.  This year we didn't do the mochi pounding because it was not so organized like the previous years.  I played ball bingo because my aim is quite good.  I was given 5 balls and I was able to get double Bingo while holding Amaya in one hand. I was able to get two prizes and to play was just 10czk so it was a great deal. At the same tent, they had some items for sale.  I couldn't pass up an onion chopping machine and a new Uniqlo jacket for kids.  Each was just 50czk, so for the jacket it was a steal!  I'm hoping that next year the weather will be better and there will be better food choices like the year before.

Cloud 9

My father got a voucher from the hotel they were staying at to get drinks at Cloud 9.  I had heard of the bar before and that it had nice views of the city.  My father was a bit reluctant to go, but after I urged him to go he was quite happy.  The first time we went for drinks at Cloud 9 the weather was much better and we were able to see the castle quite clearly.  However, I forgot to get a group picture of us.  The next time we went I made sure to get a photo of us all.  Three of us had non alcoholic cocktails and they were quite nice.  The views were great and we even saw some people surfing on the river.

                                                        surfing in Prague, who knew?!
                                                                Amaya was sleeping

                                                                            cheers!

the view of the castle wasn't as good as the last time

Walk around Praha

Leos was gone from Thursday 4:30am until Sunday 11am and unfortunately during this time Amaya got sick for the first time.  On Wednesday afternoon she was starting to have a fever.  She was incredibly fussy and couldn't sleep from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.  It was so difficult because Leos needed to leave at 4:30am to catch his flight to London.  I had plans the whole time he was gone to keep myself and Amaya busy, but I had to cancel everything.  I had to cancel her Mala Okinawa class, my parents visit and plans with a friend.  Her fever didn't go down on Thursday, so Leos called her pediatrician and she said I needed to come in with Amaya the next day.  She told me that a lot of children were having fevers due to covid and she wanted to test Amaya for it. She said that if Amaya didn't have covid, she would need to do a blood prick test. So, I was actually relieved when Amaya tested positive for covid.  The doctor told me that covid this year isn't as strong as the previous years and to just give Amaya medicine if her temperature went above 38C.  Luckily, I didn't need to give her any more medicine from Friday at 5am. It was so hard to be at home by myself without any help while she was sick for the first time.  My mom offered to come and help, but I didn't want her to catch covid.  On Saturday, I really needed a salt spray from the pharmacy to clear Amaya's nose.  Unfortunately, it didn't come to my mind to message my friend who has a child because when I told her about Amaya's fever and how I was by myself, she said she would've helped me immediately. In the future I'll need to do a better job for just asking for help.  Going to the pharmacy with Amaya on Saturday wasn't the best, but at the time I felt it was my only option. It was so hard to feel not supported. Saturday night I took breast milk out of the freezer because I knew I would need to clear my head from all the cries and fussiness I had to deal with by myself for the past couple of days while Leos got to be on holiday.  In the evening after I fed Amaya, I decided to go for a long walk and act like a tourist.  It was so good to just get out and walk without listening to any cries.  I was only gone for 2.5 hours, but it felt so nice. I even made it to the narrowest alley and had it all to myself, which was a huge surprise because every time I walk  by it there is always a line.  When I exited the alley, a line had already formed! I truly was lucky to have it all to myself.

gifts from Leos's friends for Amaya

Bracelet and Ring Making

My friend messaged me in the middle of August asking me if I could attend her birthday jewelry making workshop. I hadn't left Amaya with Leos for more than two hours before, so at least I had a few weeks to prepare for the afternoon.  I made sure to pump enough breast milk so Leos could feed her while I was gone.  The day had finally arrived and it was so nice to be able to leave Amaya with Leos while I did something with my friends. We each had a station set up with a mat, template and special needles. Learning how to make the flower shape with beads was quite tricky.  I wasn't able to use the special needles properly.  I kept getting my string in knots while using the needles, so I ended up just threading the beads and string with my fingers. Once I got the hang of it with the flowers, it wasn't that bad.  I finished the complicated bracelet and wanted to make rings, which are supposedly much easier.  I had a hard time keeping the beads on the string.  I dropped finished rings about five times.  It was getting so frustrating.  It was probably because I was using such a small amount of string for the rings.  Going through the beads a second time to secure the beads was my nemesis.   My friend had to help me with it with one ring.  The two other rings I made, I decided to just tie it and not do the double thread.  Overall it was a really fun activity and I am happy I got to learn a new skill.  Thanks for the invite Farhana and I hope you had a wonderful birthday!
