Filipino Cooking Class

The last scheduled cooking class at the apartment we have been having cooking events for the past 9 months was the Filipino Cooking Class.  The host will be moving next month, so it was his last time hosting the club.  I haven't been able to go to cooking events since February due to being in the last months of my pregnancy and then giving birth.  Since the apartment is on the forth floor and the building doesn't have an elevator, I went by myself.  Leos and Amaya were waiting for me at a nearby park.  I wanted to stop by to tell the host thanks for all the events he hosted.  Luckily I came at a great time and was able to try the dishes that were made that day.  Everything was delicious and the cook did a great job teaching everyone how to make the dishes.  I wasn't able to stay that long so I tried to take as many pictures as I could before leaving.  It was nice to meet everyone and hopefully we'll meet again soon at a picnic or future cooking club event.

Festival of Embassies

It was the time of year when my favorite event was happening again, The Festival of Embassies.  There were 56 embassies represented this year. We weren't really sure if we would be able to go because of the weather.  However, I was determined to go.  I really wanted to try food from Qatar because I saw that they had a stand this year.  Unfortunately, when we arrived, they had already packed up and left.  The weather was pretty bad.  We decided not to take the stroller with us because we knew that with the rain there would be a LOT of mud and sure enough there was.  It was the first time I used the carrier with Amaya.  It was a bit complicated in the beginning because I needed to carry an umbrella as well to protect us from the rain.  Luckily, the rain died down and I didn't need the umbrella anymore.  We arrived just in time to hear the mariachi play.  Since we had lunch before going to the festival, I only wanted to get a few snacks.  The snack from Thailand was really good.  Before leaving, we grabbed another portion to go.  It seemed like more clouds were coming and it could rain again, so we cut our visit short and went back home.  Even though it was a short stay, I am glad we went.  Hopefully next year will be better.
