Halloween 2022

Leoš had to go to Denmark for an American football game with the Czech National Team, so I decided to make myself busy.  I already knew I would be going to the Dia de los Muertos event, but I came across a Halloween party starting at 4pm that included a potluck at a bar.  I thought it would be nice to join a potluck and meet some new people.  The bar was quite close to Malostranske Namesti tram stop and we had a whole section to ourselves, it was great!  One woman I met worked in marketing for Lindt chocolate and she brought a LOT of chocolate.  At the end of the party, I took a lot of the chocolate with me because I knew I would be running into a lot of people.  I gave so much chocolate to kids that were dressed up in costume.  It was fun giving the chocolate away and putting a lot of smiles on people's faces. When I arrived to the Dia de los Muertos event, it was so crowded.  I had a really hard time finding my friend, but finally I managed to find her.  She won 2nd place in the costume contest.  Her face painting skills were on point! After hanging out at the event for over an hour we made our way to Old Town square to see the mariachi playing in the square.  Then we went to a bar to dance.  It was a really fun night and I enjoyed meeting everyone.  Looking forward to future events!

New Art on the John Lennon Wall

I didn't know that the John Lennon wall was repainted until I saw a news story mentioning that an inflatable replica of the John Lennon wall from Prague was on display in Paris.  I was a bit confused because the image looked completely different to what I remember the wall looked like.  I thought it looked quite interesting, so I wanted to see it for myself.  The wall was totally repainted in just one day by several artists from EU countries, along with Norway and Ukraine.  The theme for the wall right now is Freedom and Energy. It looks quite nice and I am curious to see how long it will take before tourists ruin the nice new paint. I think its quite cool that there is an inflatable replica that will be on display in several different countries around the EU.  Its a nice concept.

had to take a picture in front of the main focal point of the wall

Signal Festival (Prague, CZ)

Signal Festival this year started on a Thursday.  I had a super busy day, but I knew it would be best to go on Thursday because of how crowded it would get on the weekend.  We decided to go to the downtown part of the Signal Festival.  Even thought it was a Thursday night, it was still a bit crowded.  The exhibition I was surprised at the most was with the cars that were brought from the war in Ukraine.  No one died in the cars they brought over, but you can still see the destruction the cars went through.  The next installation we saw was at Narodni Divadlo.  On Thursday we saw 5 installations that we were able to walk to.  Then on Friday we started from Namesti Miru and saw the installations that were in Vinohrady. We made the best decision with starting at Namesti Miru and walked to the other installations because when we walked to the last installation we were able to get on the tram no problem.  Every stop up until Karolvo Namesti was crazy full with people.  It was a nice time and I am happy we were able to separate the festival into two nights. In the end over half a million people attended the festival!
