Blueberries/Kunsthalle

It's blueberry season again!!  On Sunday, we went to one blue plantation just outside of Prague in Zdiby. We always get our blueberries there because they have the best blueberries and they are HUGE!!  There were some that were the same size as a 10czk coin! On Monday, I went to Kunsthalle with a friend whose baby is just 2 weeks older than Amaya. Amaya was a bit fussy in the gallery and I had to hold her most of the time.  I guess she just wanted to see the art as well.  There were lots of nice paintings on the bottom two floors which were part of the "And We'll Never Be Parted" exhibition and the top floor, "The Call of the Forest" exhibition, had an interesting taxi cab installation.  However, what impressed me the most was the tree stump that was made of pages from a years worth of the New York Times.  After the exhibitions, my friend and I had lunch at the cafe.  The soup was quite nice, but it took me a really long time to eat because Amaya was fussy again.  Overall it was a great first gallery visit for her.  As we were leaving Kunsthalle there were some very dark clouds.  Within minutes the clouds opened up and there was a huge downpour.  Luckily, I am always prepared and had the cover for the stroller and an umbrella for myself.  It was a great way to spend the day.

Picnic

Around Christmas time last year, a friend of mine suggested I join a group that would be for mothers expecting their baby in 2025.  She also suggested I meet up with mothers who were going to be expecting their baby around the same time I was expecting mine.  After Leos and I got back from our trip to the USA in January, I decided it was time to meet with some new mothers.  The first meet up I organized was on February 6th and the five of us were all expecting our babies with a three month period. It was the best thing to have us all give birth so close in date with each other.  We were all able to support each other during this massive change in our lives.  We basically met up every week until our due dates.  Then of course we took some time off once we had our newborns.  Ever since Amaya was old enough for me to feel comfortable using public transportation, I have been organizing picnics with other new mothers and their babies.  The most recent picnic was a biggest yet.  I think the max number of mothers we could have would be twelve, due to the spaces at the picnic tables. We all had a great time chatting and exchanging stories about our infants. Its been so great having a nice support system in which we can ask each other questions and advice about what to do with our infants and realize that we are going through the same thing. Its also been so great seeing the progression of the babies. It was so cute having the babies lined up from youngest to oldest (even though there were 2 babies that got switched up in order) to see the difference in sizes and behavior.  The youngest was 5 weeks old and the oldest was 7 months old.  The youngest was of course crying a lot and the oldest didn't want to lay still.  Its been great having these picnics and we will continue having them as long as the weather allows it.
