FOOD PIKNIK event

I wanted to meet up with a friend of mine because it had been some time and she suggested we go to the Piknik event.  I had seen some adverts for the event, but I didn't realize that it was at a park that is quite close to me. It was nice to get on the bus for less than 10 minutes and already be at the location. It was a HUGE event.  There were so many stands and so many people.  We made a loop to see which stand we would want to get food at. Leos and I decided to get food from a stand we had never seen before, a stand with OLD Czech recipes.  I think Leos's dish was the oldest recipe and it was from the 1800s. Both dishes were quite nice.  His pork dish was with a plum sauce and my chicken dish had a lemon sauce with some raisins. Leos wanted to get some beer and the stand across from where we were eating had beer.  However, they weren't selling any but they were having a free blind tasting.  So, Leos decided to do the tasting.  Then my friend met up with us.  Her daughter had a lot of activities she could do and had a lot of fun.  It was a great afternoon and a nice way to spend the last day of August. August just flew by!!!

Last August Picnic

The weather was nice, so we had another picnic at the same spot as the week before. It was a nice turn out and we had a lot of great food!  There was a nice balance between sweet and savory this time. During the picnic I received confirmation that some books I ordered for Amaya finally arrived in Smichov.  I made my way to the book store and was happy they finally arrived. I didn't realize that they were hard sturdy books, but its perfect for Amaya so she doesn't rip them.  It was a pleasant surprise!

Busy Saturday

Saturday was an all day outing.  First we went to naplavka for the farmer's market.  Of course, I had to get pesto bread.  Then I made my way to the Cooking Club picnic.  Unfortunately, a lot of people found out about the picnic after it happened...... The weather was also not the best, we had to hide under the trees to get away from the rain.  It was a small picnic, but we shared some nice food.  Then we went to the Red Bull Steep Street Skateboarding competition.  It was a free event and pretty cool to watch.  However, we couldn't watch the finals because it started to really rain.  We had to walk to the car and it was a 20 minute walk.  Luckily, I had a cover for the stroller and a small umbrella for myself, but Leos didn't have anything and got completely drenched!  Even though the day ended with a storm, it was a great action packed day.

Mala Okinawa: Baby Class

One of my friends told me about a class she took her baby to, Mala Okinawa, and she really loved it.  She suggested I take Amaya to one of the classes. It was at the instructor's house and there were five other mothers and their babies.  We started with an ice breaker and then sang some songs. We also played with some bells and the babies really enjoyed it.  There was also story time. The babies were listening quite attentively. There were even some sensory bowls outside set up for the babies.  Since Amaya is not eating food yet, she was only able to play with one of the bowls of water.  Then it was lunch time for the babies who are eating food and then it was lunch time for the mothers.  We had coffee and tea and chatted for a bit.  Then we got back together on the floor and played with the parachute.  Amaya was too tired, so I put her in the stroller and she fell asleep immediately.  Then there was a bubble gun and it was so cute watching the babies and the bubbles.  We said our good byes and then I joined two other mothers for ice cream.  It was a fun filled day for our babies.  I will join the class again next month!

Biggest Picnic Yet

New week, new picnic.  This week we had to change locations because the week before just had too many bugs.  It was nice to have a big space because 11 of us came together this week.  We had some new mothers join us this week which was quite nice.  We had a lot of goodies however, we had way too many sweets in comparison to salty things.  Hopefully next week there will be more of a balance. Looking forward to it!

Rollerblading with Amaya

My friend, Aigerim, wanted to go rollerblading and asked if I could try rollerblading with Amaya and the stroller.  I'm pretty confident with my rollerblading ability so I thought I might as well try.  It was a fun afternoon of rollerblading, but unfortunately the stroller wasn't built to go faster than a fast walk.  I felt one of the front wheels shaking a bit and figured that this will probably be the only time I could go rollerblading with it.  If I want to go again in the future, it'll need to be with a different stroller. It was a very fun afternoon.  I think Amaya was a bit surprised with the speed, but enjoyed it!
