I wasn't able to see my friend Lucie since October due to schedule conflicts and covid. I finally got the chance to see her after more than 6 months. We missed out on Christmas, her birthday, the birth of her daughter and my birthday. We had a lot of presents to exchange. We enjoyed a nice walk and a bbq at the end of the day. It was so great to meet her daughter and I am sure I will see her more often.
For several weeks the government restricted free movement within the country due to covid. As soon as restrictions were lifted, we decided to go to Trebic. On Saturday, we had a really nice walk around the city and got to enjoy some nice views. On Sunday morning we went with his sister and her kids to an area where they had a bunch of nice purple flowers. There were AS many when we went, but it was still a very nice walk. It was great to get out of Prague for the weekend.
The weather was decent, so we decided to go to Stromovka park for the afternoon. The blossoms were really nice and it was great to lay in the sun. The next day we found a Japanese/Czech exhibition of photos in the center of the city. We were the only ones there. A few days later it snowed in the morning and was sunny in the afternoon. It was crazy.
In the Czech Republic, I find in quite interesting that they have two public holidays around Easter. It is not a religious country, but they have both the Friday and Monday as public holidays. For Czech Republic the biggest day for Easter is Easter Monday. This is where men/boys go around whipping (mostly gently) women/girls so they won't "dry out". After they do the whipping they get chocolates, eggs or liquor from the females. It is a "strange" tradition in my eyes and I was never taught this as a child. Anyways again the weather changed. Just the day before it was sunny with blue skies and now it was grey and rainy. I got to use one of my presents, which was a water proof jacket, and it clearly worked. I am happy with it. We started the walk with a bit of rain. But when we walked on the Charles Bridge, the wind picked up and suddenly it was snowing like CRAZYYY. It was so cold and my fingers were freezing. I couldn't finish the walk and we had to get back to the apartment using three different modes of transportation to ensure the least amount of being in the cold. April weather this year has been crazy!
On Saturday the weather was a bit better so, my boyfriend and I decided to go to my favorite castle park. The views from there are great and it has been closed since October. In the evening I got to celebrate my birthday with my friends. They surprised me with a beautiful cake and presents. My friend had told me that the cake she made for me was eaten by her friend's dog. I was quite disappointed and thought that I wasn't getting a cake, so when they brought the cake out it was a proper surprise. It was a nice celebration. The next morning we had a nice breakfast and went for a walk in the city. It was sunny, so we decided to get some ice cream from Creme de la Creme. We walked to Petrin and got to enjoy some very beautiful blossoming trees. Then I took my friends to the John Lennon wall and the Infant Jesus church because one of my friends had never been to both. It was such a nice weekend and it was nice to be with friends this year for my birthday, compared to last year not being able to see any friends. Thanks ladies!!
