mochi (rice cake making in santiago

So the last time I was at the Japanese society in Santiago I looked at the upcoming events and noticed that there was a traditional mochi (rice cake) making event the day that I got back from California. Since I arrived in the morning, I knew I would be able to make it on time. I dropped my bags off and went immediately to the society. They had already been working for a couple hours when I got there. I of course wanted to help out. Last year when I was in Japan my friend and I were walking on the street and randomly saw people doing it so we joined it. It was a lot of fun. So I knew I wanted to participate again in the mochi making process. The event was fun and it was great talking to everyone. There was a lot of hard work and sweat put into making the mochi. They used 60kg of rice!!! Definitely a hard days work! Thanks to everyone who participated! It was a great day!

skydiving with my mom on boxing day

The last time I went skydiving was 11 years ago in Wisconsin. I decided that in my few days back at home I needed to do it again. Little did I know my mom had been wanting to skydive for a while now. So we decided to go the day after Christmas. It was such a beautiful day. The views were much better than in Wisconsin. Since it was my second time, my instructor decided that we could do a bunch of cool tricks. We did a backflip out of the plane and did some sick turns. He even let me control the parachute. It was such a great ride down with breath taking views of the lake, mountains and ocean. Afterwards I was able to meet up with my friend really quick and finally meet all her kids. I even helped her lil guy skateboard. And for dinner I had to get some In-n-out. Such a great day to have before leaving!

Fishing on Christmas Eve

My father goes fishing at least twice a week, so whenever I am back at home I try to go at least once with him. The weather has been beautiful since I have been back home so I decided to go with him today. It was such a wonderful day. I was able to catch my first yellow tail tuna. I had quite a fight with the fish. It took me like 20 minutes to get the damn fish up. I ALMOST got the jackpot fish.....i just lost by a couple of ounces. We even got to see a couple of whales and a dolphin. It was a perfect day. The boat caught 21 yellow tails. They have never had a Christmas eve like today. Everyone on the boat was really nice and it was great to talk with you guys. Thanks to those who participated!!! See ya next time I go fishing!!
