mochi (rice cake making in santiago

So the last time I was at the Japanese society in Santiago I looked at the upcoming events and noticed that there was a traditional mochi (rice cake) making event the day that I got back from California.  Since I arrived in the morning, I knew I would be able to make it on time.  I dropped my bags off and went immediately to the society.  They had already been working for a couple hours when I got there.  I of course wanted to help out.  Last year when I was in Japan my friend and I were walking on the street and randomly saw people doing it so we joined it.  It was a lot of fun.  Pictures from the time I did it last year in Japan can be seen here:

So I knew I wanted to participate again in the mochi making process.  The event was fun and it was great talking to everyone. There was a lot of hard work and sweat put into making the mochi.  They used 60kg of rice!!!  Definitely a hard days work! Thanks to everyone who participated!  It was a great day!
