My friend advised me to check out Taormina during our stay. We walked to the train station from our accommodation and hopped on the train. From the train station, we had to walk UP! It was quite steep and we walked off road to get to the village. The views were really nice. We walked around the city, but since it was Sunday, so many places were closed. I watched a video on YouTube mentioning the BEST place for granita, but unfortunately it was closed. I was quite disappointed, so we decided to find a cafe. We found a very good place. The cannoli was phenomenal. I was really happy with what we got. We walked around the village again, but since a lot of places were closed, we decided to head back to Catania. We went to the fish market to get some fried squid. Then we came across a cafe that had very nice sweets. We walked back to the center and came across huge celebrations in different parts of the city. Men were carrying huge structures for Saint Agata. They were twirling them around and kids were sitting on them. There were also confetti and fireworks. It was quite a scene and cool to witness. For dinner we decided to get pasta. I tried the typical Catania dish, pasta Norma. It was delicious. It was a wonderfully busy and exciting day.
