Maj @ Narodni Trida

The Maj shopping mall at Narodni Trida had undergone a huge reconstruction and was finally open to the public.  One striking thing are the huge butterflies that are moving their wings.  The butterflies were made by Czech artist David Černy and consist of former fighter planes.  Included inside are "pilots".  The butterflies are bright blue and purple and really stand out.  It doesn't really match with the architecture in the area, but someone approved it.  The interior reminded me of a Czech take on Las Vegas.  I have never been to a shopping mall with so many crystal chandeliers.  I don't know if they needed to waste money somewhere, but they certainly did with the amount of chandeliers. It just doesn't make sense because the chandeliers are in the fast food food court.  When you go on the next floor there are many arcade games that definitely cater to kids. They have a huge bar for adults but the cocktails are quite expensive at 300czk. The view from the very top is quite nice of the city.  I would suggest to go now before they close it to the public and only allow customers.  The prices for the restaurant are for the view.  After we walked all around Maj, we wanted to get some lunch and we weren't feeling anything at the food court, so we went to a vegan Vietnamese place and the food was delicious.
