Sousse, Tunisia (before New Years)

I decided that I wanted to go to Tunisia because I found a really cheap deal on a Czech travel website.  I was determined to go a country in Africa because I wanted to say that in one calendar year (2016) I was on ALL the continents except Antarctica (2015).  It has been a crazy year for travel that is for sure.  I was expecting to live in Australia this year, but things happen for a reason.  At the beginning of the year I was in Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.  Then I went to California to get my things for Australia.  I spent 3 months in Australia and traveled in New Zealand for a month.  Things happened and I was detoured to the Czech Republic and went to Spain to visit a friend.  Then I went to teach in Japan for 2.5 months.  All I needed was a country in Africa, so thats why I decided to go to Tunisia.  I was able to get a roundtrip ticket from Prague to Tunis, transport from the airport to the hotel (vice versa), 14 nights at a hotel with breakfast and dinner included for just $480.  I couldn't pass it up!!!!   On my flight from Prague to Tunis I was sitting next to a very nice Tunisian lady who gave me a bunch of advice on places where I should go and which foods I should try.  I arrived to the hotel so late at night that I didn't realize how close I was to the beach until I woke up and opened the balcony doors and looked to the right.  It was such a great location!!  Unfortunately it wasn't beach weather........   On my first day I was able to wander around and find a nice path by the beach and found the old part of the city in the city center.  I really have no idea how I found it. I think I just stumbled across it.  I did more shopping on my first day then I expected.  When I walked into a silver shop I was offered a cup of delicious mint tea.  The man tried to get me to pay a ridiculous price for a bracelet, but I was able to bargain my way to a better price.  I am sure it isn't the best price, but that's ok.  Then in the evening I met up with a couch surfer for a cup of tea.  We walked around a bit, but it was too dark to see anything.  The next day I bought some more stuff from a very nice man.  He gave me lots of advice and we had a great conversation. (I actually ended up going to him another day to buy more things, haha)  The following day I met with another couch surfer and we walked all the way to Kantaoui.  The marine area was nice and there was a random guy from Bosnia playing his guitar.  So many people took pictures of the man, so I decided that I should get him to wear my glasses as well.  To end the day I was invited to a local home for a delicious home cooked meal.  It was so nice to try the traditional foods of the country and not just eat food from the hotel.
