Ever since I was a little girl I had always dreamed of seeing the pyramids. I remember a project that I had to do in elementary school. We had to make a pyramid and put all the things we would want to have in the afterlife. I remember that I put in a tennis court and some jewels, but not really sure what else I put in it. I was always fascinated with Egyptian history and wanted to see all the artifacts in real life instead of just the books. Since, I was able to find a very good deal for Egypt (less than $600 roundtrip ticket from Praha, transfer from airport to hotel, 14 nights at a hotel next to the beach...all inclusive) I had to go. I really wasn't sure what I was going to do for all the 14 days, but one thing for sure was that I was going to see the pyramids. A friend of mine helped me get a good deal for a day trip to Cairo. The first stop on the tour was the Egypt Museum Cairo. It was amazing to see a lot of artifacts. The guide told us that since there are so many artifacts in the museum, its actually impossible to see all the contents and that he would show us some of the more important artifacts. We got to see King Tut's golden mask and all his treasures! It was absolutely incredible!!! After the museum, we finally got to see the thing everyone goes to Egypt to see, the PYRAMIDS!!! It was mind-blowing to see that they are so close to the city!!! We were able to see them from the bus through some buildings. It was so strange to see modern buildings with such ancient, important structures. Then we got to finally stand next to the pyramids and take in the sheer enormity of them. It was so impressive. When we first arrived the clouds parted ways for the sun to come out for a bit. However, the clouds came back and it even started to rain!!!!! Rain??!!!! In Egypt?? It was quite eery to have pictures of the pyramids with dark clouds. We got to go inside a pyramid and see what it was like. We actually had to go down a slope, and not walk straight in. It was quite interesting. After the pyramids we went to a perfume factory and smelled lots of amazing perfumes. Then we went back to Hurghada. The whole trip was 23 hours from the time they picked me up until they dropped me off!!! It was quite tiring, but so worth it. I had a wonderful day finally fulfilling a life long dream.
