Many people at the hostel ask me what there is to do in Ushuaia. The only thing I have been able to truly recommend people to do is hike up Martial Glacier or go to Laguna Esmeralda. Now I am able to recommend them to go on the El Che tour (4 hours) to the 3 islands and lighthouse. (They have 2 tours daily, depending on weather, at 10:30 and 15:00) For the past 4 days the wind has been super strong, so they were not able to have the tours. Finally the wind wasn´t as strong today, so we were able to go. However, the wind was still a bit too strong for us to go to the lighthouse. Despite that the tour was great! The view from the boat as we left the port was amazing. Ushuaia looked so beautiful from the water. The tour was given in both Spanish and English which was great. The guide was very informative and gave us lots of information. I thought that we would be able to hike a bit more on the island but it was cold and windy so we couldn´t. The sea lions were quite impressive. I was lucky enough to see a baby sea lion that was only a week old and a REALLY big sea lion as well. The cormoran imperial were quite nice and from far away they could be mistaken for penguins. I wanted to get my glasses on a sea lion, but they were a bit too far and seemed quite aggressive. Oh well!
