Petermann Island/ Pleneau Bay

Today we started the day off by going to Petermann Island.  We were welcomed by a really cute baby elephant seal. We went on a walk and once we got the view point it was incredible.  The view was of an iceberg graveyard.  The iceberg art pieces were incredible.  Everything was picturesque.  After the graveyard I walked to the otherside of the bay and was able to see gentoo and adelie penguins living in harmony.  Then we went back on the ship for lunch.  After lunch we went on a zodiac cruise through Pleneau Bay.  It was absolutely incredible to see the iceberg graveyard upclose.  While we were about to head back I spotted a leopard seal on one of the icebergs.  So our zodiac driver, Bob, made a turn so we could go check it out.  While on our way I could hear something behind our zodiac.  I spotted another leopard seal behind us.  Then suddenly a seal (which I thought was the one behind us) shot up to the iceberg where the other seal was sleeping.  It was a crab-eater seal!!  The leopard seal that was following us was actually chasing the crab eater seal.  The leopard seal kept bopping its head up and down from the iceberg because it wanted to catch the crab eater seal.  Since the jump was too high, the leopard seal in the water couldnt catch the crab eater seal.  If it was able to catch the seal,it would have been quite a seen.  It was such an exciting thing to witness in such a beautiful place!!!
